Fire Safety House

Help bring a new Fire Safety House (FSH) to children of Longmont! Your support of this project will help build a new Fire Safety House and provide materials as part of Longmont’s Fire Safety Education Outreach program. In 1989, the Longmont Breakfast Optimist Club funded Longmont’s first FSH. At the time, it was one of the first houses in the country. This house was replaced in the early 2000’s. Over these past 29 years, thousands of St Vrain Valley first and third graders have learned about fire, fire safety and what to do in event of a fire. There are documented stories of children stating that what was learned at the FSH helped their families during a fire. There is little doubt that the FSH has helped prevent fires in Longmont and has contributed to safe escapes during a fire. After close to 20 years, the current fire safety house is aging and no longer serves its purpose well. The Optimist Club, along with the Johnson Family Fund, Longmont Rotary and the Pump House Brewery, have teamed up to raise the $40,000 needed for the construction of a customer tiny house, which will become the next Fire Safety House. A good portion of the funds have been raised, and the coalition is challenging the Longmont community to help with the remaining amount for the house, plus on-going funds for educational materials.
