Mission

Since 1956, TLC has exemplified caring, comprehensive, inclusive early learning, therapeutic services, and family caregiver support through a wide range of programs and services. Our commitment to providing an inclusive learning environment to all children in our care means that we excel in cultivating inclusive, flexible, responsive learning environments and community by ensuring that each classroom is comprised of children from a variety of backgrounds and with an extensive range of abilities. It also means that each classroom team is made up of teachers, therapists, and other early childhood professionals to ensure that each child is receiving the individualized support they need to nurture those abilities so they will thrive in school and beyond. We believe that it is essential that we work in partnership with families to provide resources, education, and reliable support that promotes the healthy development of children and their families. We are leaders in early learning and therapy services for children and youth through our demonstration of innovative and evidence-based best practices and advocacy for disability rights and because of our decades-long mission to provide high-quality early learning opportunities to the most vulnerable children in our community.

More about this organization

Nearly 70 years ago, long before special education legislation was enacted in the U.S.,  four Longmont families decided that their children with disabilities were entitled to the same healthy start in life as their peers. At TLC, we believe that embracing and celebrating our differences and commonalities is an integral part of the cognitive and social-emotional growth of each member of our community and is as important now as when our Center was founded in 1956.
