More about this organization

Affordable Housing Components:

  1. Transitional Housing – Time-limited housing. Time-limited, affordable housing for families and individuals facing homelessness. During this time, Heads of Household work with our Supportive Housing Advocates to improve their ability to be self-sufficient. The program is designed to help them acquire the skills they need to achieve long-term housing stability.
  2. Permanent Housing – Long-term housing for elderly and/or disabled individuals living on very low fixed incomes and face mental or physical health disabilities that make it difficult for them to maintain stable housing. Residents receive comprehensive Advocacy and Supportive Services.
  3. Contracted Housing – Short term housing contracted by partner agencies for individuals facing significant barriers to housing.

In addition to Supportive Housing, all residents receive personalized support and the resources they need to break the cycle of homelessness.

The Supportive Services we provide are:

  • Housing Advocacy: Our Supportive Housing Advocates work directly with clients to provide personalized guidance and support on their journey to housing stability. The Inn uses a strengths-based approach to advocacy work, which views residents as resourceful and resilient in the face of adversity. Our advocates work with each Head of Household to design a “Success Plan.” This tool prompts the resident to identify their personal goals and set a plan to meet them. This plan is revised at 6-month reviews and program exit. Throughout a resident’s time at The Inn, they can reach out to their Advocate for help with navigating and identifying community resources.
  • Life Skills Training Classes: These include Financial Literacy, Healthy Housing, Healthy Relationships, Digital Literacy, Transportation Access, Decluttering, and more.
  • Scholarship Program: Provides assistance to residents that are looking to attend classes or training that will further their education to advance their career. Funds may be used for college tuition, certification courses, CEU credits, and other classes.
  • Education Center: Adults can receive one-on-one tutoring to support continuing education. It is utilized to provide on-site life-skills training.
  • Starfish Fund: Funding for emergency expenses. This can include prescriptions, gas, prom, auto repairs, sports activities, sports equipment, school supplies, etc.
  • Two On-Site Food Pantries: The Inn Between partners with Community Food Share (CFS) to provide weekly distributions of food for residents.

By providing affordable housing, ongoing advocacy, and life skills training, we empower residents to develop sustainable stability. Services such as the food pantries and Starfish Funds for emergency, unexpected expenses help households stretch their limited financial resources which fosters stability building.

Every household’s success strengthens our community. With your generous donation, you can provide the keys to home and a brighter future.
