Mission

restART studio is helping to transform the lives of at-risk teens and youth who are involved in the criminal justice system through art therapy. Through 1:1 and small group art therapy—facilitated by licensed professional mental health and addiction counselors and art therapists–our program helps youth turn their lives around and get on a healthy path.

Art therapy has proven effective at reaching youth who are dealing with trauma, mental and behavioral issues, and/or substance abuse. And yet, underserved youth often don’t have access to its benefits. At resART studio we are changing that one teen at a time.

We provide our therapeutic services at low or no cost, creating equitable access to trauma-informed, mental health services for all. The goal of our program is to give underserved youth the opportunity to work with a trained art therapist to address mental health concerns and trauma, learn from their mistakes, recognize their strengths, and build healthy social and emotional skills to help them thrive.

At its heart, our art therapy program provides a safe space for youth to feel listened to and understood without judgment. Being seen, feeling a sense of belonging, and learning tools for coping are all part of helping youth grow from their struggles, and in the process, gain the healing power of authentic self-love.
