Specific Eligibility
- Must be a senior at Frederick High School.
Academic Requirements
- Must wish to pursue a four-year college degree.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 with no F’s on the transcript.
Amounts Awarded
- One-Time Scholarship: Up to $10,000 awarded per person.
- Note: The number of scholarships granted will vary from year to year, which means the maximum amount will vary depending on the number of winners.
Purpose
In Memory of Mark Martinez: This Scholarship Fund was created to honor the life of Mark Martinez who passed away suddenly on April 17, 2017. A native of the Carbon Valley, Mark attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1992. Mark was employed by the Town of Firestone and made his home in the community. Mark felt at home in the outdoors, he found tranquility in camping, hunting, fishing, and sports. He also enjoyed music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Mark loved to entertain and make people laugh with his charismatic personality. Most of all Mark loved his family. He was a devoted husband and doting father. There truly wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to make them happy. Mark enjoyed all aspects of life and definitely left his mark on all he came in contact with.
Use of Funds
- Scholarship award is restricted to tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room & board, and other direct educational expenses related to study at an accredited four-year college or university for the upcoming fall semester.
- Award amounts will be split between semesters.
