History / Mission

Our Mission:

Providing Resources and Partnering to Build Community

How do you improve life in the St. Vrain Valley through philanthropy and leadership?

  • First, we have a community fund, Live and Give Longmont that allows us to respond to the changing needs in the community.  Donors have contributed generously over the years to this endowment, and the earnings go to fund our Live & Give Longmont  Grants Program.  We distribute thousands of dollars to local nonprofits – large and small – each year through the Community Grants Program.
  • Second, we manage charitable funds for local donors, businesses and nonprofits – more than 200 of them. We offer you the power and flexibility in charitable giving without the legal paperwork, time and expenses associated with running your own foundation.  We can help you set up a Fund that will maximize both your tax advantages and your impact in the community – for now and forever.

Our History:

The notion for creating the Longmont Community Foundation began in 1988 and was formalized in 1994.

Generous donors, hardworking volunteers and visionary grantees have all contributed to our success. Since its inception, The Longmont Community Foundation has awarded over $11 million in grants to nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Longmont.

 Our Vision:

We envision a future where all people of the St. Vrain Valley lead independent, generous, and creative lives.

Our Culture

We believe that we must be aware of and responsive to everyone in the community whom we serve. Our organizational culture values people of all backgrounds and fosters an environment of respect, openness, learning, integrity, and honesty.

Differences in age, race, ethnic heritage, religion, appearance, sexual orientation, or any number of other distinguishing factors provide experiences, viewpoints, and ideas that can strengthen and enrich our work in the community and the Foundation’s work environment.

Our goal is to create an environment that is inclusive, respectful, equitable, and to utilize the leadership talents of people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to accomplish the vision of the Longmont Community Foundation.

The Longmont Community Foundation’s vision will be realized if inclusiveness is institutionalized and becomes a core value in every aspect of our organization.
