We support and encourage people to ride bicycles to prevent chronic illness, reduce air pollution, cut carbon emissions, and empower those of all ages and abilities who are otherwise marginalized. We refurbish and repurpose about 2000 bikes per year, diverting approximately 18 tons from CO landfills annually. Our expert mechanics breathe new life into used bikes and parts, and we give many of these bikes to those who lack access to bicycles. Our gift of a bicycle provides life-long benefits of bike riding, as well as wraparound support that creates a sustainable, healthy, allied community. Our focus on equity means our outreach prioritizes diversity, working toward the realization of healthy, active lives for everyone in our community. Our advocacy network advances better, safer bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Boulder County.
We partner with local governments, re-entry councils, affordable housing providers, and policymakers on programs like Bike to Work Day, gender-equity bike mechanic workshops, and providing bikes to low-income essential workers. We operate a number of programs with Boulder County’s Mobility for All, the Boulder County Housing Authority, and Boulder Valley School District to provide low- or no-fee bikes to low-income residents throughout Boulder County.
