Mission

From tree care to fruit share, we empower communities to reduce food waste, increase equitable access to locally grown fruit, minimize wildlife conflicts, and foster healthy and productive fruit trees.

Our vision is a community united in strength, health, resilience, and justice, where a vibrant urban tree canopy thrives, supported by knowledgeable stewards. Here, everyone enjoys access to healthy, local food, food waste is dramatically reduced, and humans and wildlife coexist in balance.

To reach our goals, we focus on four main program areas:

  1. Fruit Harvest
  2. Fruit Tree Care
  3. Wildlife Coexistence
  4. Fruit Preservation

Since 2014, our main Fruit Harvest Program has:

  • Rescued more than 110,000 lbs of fruit
  • Organized over 470 residential harvests
  • Distributed 276,000 servings of fruit locally to food insecure families
  • Engaged nearly 1,400 volunteers who have contributed to thousands of hours of work
Instead of falling to the ground where it rots, goes to waste, and attracts black bears in to our urban areas, this rescued fruit is donated throughout Boulder County to local food pantries and food banks, schools, animal sanctuaries, and more. In Longmont, we are pleased to partner with Longmont Food Rescue and the Good Life Refuge as our main fruit beneficiary sites. By donating to Community Fruit Rescue, you will help us grow our small nonprofit organization so we can continue serving the Longmont community and beyond!
