Mission

Cottonwood Institute (CI) is on a mission to connect middle and high school students to nature and inspire them to protect it. Our vision is to awaken the changemaker within every student. CI believes that we can’t expect students to care about the environment or to protect it until they first have an opportunity to explore nature and develop a powerful connection to it. CI programs actively break down barriers for under-resourced youth to access nature and high quality educational enrichment programs by providing free programming to students and by providing free access to the gear, transportation, and professional instruction they need to successfully participate in their CI program.
