Mission

The Flatirons Farmers Coalition (FFC) is a grassroots nonprofit in the Boulder Valley that creates a thriving and inclusive local agricultural community rooted in regenerative agriculture, food security, and land stewardship. Lead by farmers, FFC supports existing and aspiring producers via community building, policy advocacy, peer-to-peer education, and equity-forward initiatives.

This programming—designed collaboratively by farmers, ranchers, and advocates of resilient and equitable food systems—supports producers through the unique challenges they face. Together, FFC makes it possible for our producers to build thriving and resilient livelihoods in agriculture while providing nutrient-rich local food, sequestering carbon, stewarding our landscapes, and regenerating soil.

More about this organization

In addition to our core programming we launched a fund in 2024 that provides microgrants to farmers who are becoming parents to cover the cost of hiring farm labor while one partner is recovering, or covering medical costs. To date, we've distributed a total of $51,600 in grants to 9 local farming families. Why are we passionate about this?
Because over one-third of farmers under the age of 35 are women. For young farmers who want children, there's a glaring lack of support, funding, and care. There are no national support programs such as affordable and universal healthcare access or paid family leave, and as small businesses, many farms can't afford the new parent benefits given to people working in other professions. We want to support young farmers in all aspects, on the land and in their lives.
