Mission

Now in its 26th year, Intercambio’s volunteer-taught English classes have supported over 20,000 adult residents of the St. Vrain Valley to gain communication skills, confidence, and cross-connections. Through language classes and community gatherings, we help immigrants access professional opportunities, support their children in school, communicate with healthcare professionals, and develop a feeling of community belonging. Now more than ever, Intercambio is strengthening its efforts to build a more equitable and inclusive society. Help us to bridge cultural divides and break down barriers of language, culture, race, and socioeconomic status for St. Vrain Valley residents, one conversation at a time.

More about this organization

Our goal this year is to connect 30% more adult immigrants in the area and continue improving our curriculum to better support both students and teachers. Demand for accessible, affordable English classes continues to grow, and many adults face barriers to learning that limit their opportunities for employment, education, and community connection.

What makes our approach unique is our focus on relationships. Through one-on-one and small group learning, students build language skills while forming meaningful connections with volunteer teachers. These relationships go both ways. Volunteers gain a strong sense of purpose, deeper cultural understanding, and meaningful community engagement through their experience.

Connecting across cultures is more important than ever. When people feel seen, supported, and empowered, they are better equipped to contribute to their communities and advocate for themselves and their families. Together, we are building stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
