More about this organization

The Longmont Museum is an enter for culture for people of all ages. The Museum has a variety of education programs for all ages and provides low-cost and scholarship options to participate through the Equitable Access Program.

Discovery Days is an early childhood program at the Longmont Museum that encourages children ages 2 to 6 and their parents/caregivers to engage together in educational, hands-on art, music, and movement activities.

The Longmont Museum Equitable Access Program is a fund that allows the Museum to offer scholarships so all children and families can enjoy the Museum and it’s programs. Success for the Longmont Museum Equitable Access Program, related to Discovery Days, is defined by building long-term relationships with scholarship recipients and their families. Success is measured in high school graduation, participation in continuing education, career opportunities, living-wage employment, and cultural engagement over years.
-Children and families are welcome to join our programing at any age or stage in their journey.
-Our ideal scenario is to have participants join us as families with young children. Children and their grownups will learn and play together in Discovery Days, our early childhood program. This program emphasizes school-readiness skills and helps parents and caregivers to recognize and support their children’s
learning outside of a classroom setting. This program trains grownups to observe and work with their children, to communicate with their child’s teachers, and to advocate for and support the development of their child’s social, emotional, and academic needs.

Over the years we have responded to the changing early childhood education needs in our area. Discovery Days began as a drop-in craft making session for young children and their adults that was held once per week. This program grew to 12 sessions per week Tuesday-Friday. We now offer music and movement in addition to arts and crafts. In 2023, our community began asking for weekend opportunities to attend Discovery Days and in fall 2023 we added a Saturday option growing the program to 15 sessions per week.
