Over 60% of veterans are not in the VA system, do not qualify for services, or do not know where to turn. Few spaces exist for them to connect in community and share their difficult experiences. Qualified Listeners provides peer-based non-judgmental listening to veterans in pain who often tell us “I don’t know why I’m telling you this, I’ve never told anyone”, tremendously supporting mental health and combating isolation and suicide. Our successful transportation program drives disabled veterans to essential services, assisting everyone from a 25-year-old paralyzed veteran to a 65-year-old resident after a critical fall. When a veteran is not safe at home, our dedicated team mobilize to install an adapted shower or replace a broken ramp. It is in our heart to serve 300+ residents in the St. Vrain Valley each and every year since 2017, and the need has not stopped. Help us to expand our reach in the Valley to bring veterans and their families more peace in their lives.
Our activities take place across northern Colorado and beyond. When a veteran calls, we respond by meeting them wherever they need us.
We need volunteer drivers! Volunteering is a Work of Heart, and in our community, you’ll find friendship. If you have always wanted to assist our Veterans, but did not know how, perhaps we are your solution. Volunteer on your own time and schedule, choosing from a variety of opportunities.
