Our mission is to support victims/survivors of domestic violence, the people responsible for the harm caused by such intimate violence, as well as the friends and family members impacted, as they seek to heal the trauma and suffering caused by domestic violence. People affected by this kind of harm rarely heal from the impact of intimate violence through the criminal legal system response. RAIV helps fill the gap by providing restorative, community-based Circles.
RAIV is located in Longmont and is comprised of volunteers with diverse backgrounds, trained in restorative practices and principles of the RAIV Circle process. RAIV does not provide counseling/therapy or any sort of mental health services or crisis intervention, nor is it a suicide prevention or domestic violence helpline.
RAIV fosters a person’s healing process in community with a committed small group (Circle) of trained volunteers who listen, reflect and support through conversation and creativity. RAIV Circle members focus on the needs of the person at the center, the Core Member, with the philosophy of “power with” rather than “power over”.
“…They really honored whatever state I was in each time I was there… It allowed me to process at my own speed and in my own way, which then did help me to heal, or at least begin to see what I wanted to do for myself.”
